All the ‘usual suspects’ have once again registered, including Ted Reeve who has raced every year the Challenge has been run.
In addition we have several returnees, in the shape of David Pymm, James Bilsland, Marcus Fellows and Mike Chalk, who have raced with us in the past but have been ‘ missing’ for a while.
In addition we have new comers, Lloyd Rumbold, James Fettiplace, plus young drivers, Edward Weston (David Weston’s son) and Abigail Whitt who joins as our second ‘lady’ driver.
Our class structure caters for Spridgets in all the period specs they raced in over the years, but registrations are strongest in the two modified classes (Class A Modsports, and E Modified ex Healey Club cars)
Competition this year promises to be intense.
At the front expect Steve Watkins and Steve Collier to continue where they left off in 2017 but they will be joined by David Morrison ( Class E champion moving up to A this year ) and ex champion Richard Wildman. Add in Nick Day with a new engine plus Andrew McGee and Richard Bridge who have been developing their cars over the Winter. Plus Dave Weston and Bruce Carter who are always in the mix. Also rumour has it that multiple champion Paul Sibley hopes to complete a new car to join us later in the season.
In Class E Paul Campfield (Class E and Overall Champion in 2017) will start favourite but Richard Perry, Robin Lackford , Pippa Cow, and Ian Burgin will be pushing hard. Add Carl Chadwick ( the Class B Champion) moving over plus Tom Walker, Dean Stanton and John Bridge from Class D and class E will be ultra competitive.
In Class C/D Nigel Lackford will be challenged to stay ahead of Edward Easton, Martyn Clews, John Tewson and Andy Wolf.
