As Mike mentioned last month, we had a few committee changes at the AGM in February, one of which leaves me responsible for the notes. Mike's been writing these since December 2009, so I just hope I can keep up the same high standards, as he takes over as Chairman. A more dedicated MG Midget fan there cannot be, so we're in safe hands. The AGM also produced two new committee members, John Clark and Robert Thomas, who we are very pleased to welcome aboard.
Undergoing a full rebuild by Register member Glyn Jenkins, who has his own website company, our new site should be ready for re-launch in a few weeks time. Completely interactive, for the first time we have a site that is bang up to date, which among other things, will allow members to create their own profiles - a sort of MG Midget "facebook"! We don't intend it to replace or be a rival to other existing sites, just a really good addition, that members will enjoy using. Vibrant activity is the key to making a site worth visiting, and I believe Glyn has achieved this.
Within our designated parking, we intend having a separate area for K series engined Spridgets. Owing to their unique appeal, we thought a group of these highly individual cars parked together would be of interest. Mr "K" series, Anthony Cutler, is the contact, anthony.cutler(at)btinternet.com just drop him an email for more info.
By the time you read this our Donington meeting will be but a few days away, scheduled for Easter Sunday. The Championship boys have worked very hard to get a good grid of cars together, at the time of writing over twenty, so please, if you can, get along and give them your support. If things keep going as they are we could have over 30 cars on the grid by June for MGLive! - reminiscent of the eighties - great stuff! Midget racing, due to its rule stability, is undergoing something of a renaissance in its current format, and yet, unbelievably, there are those who would ban our class A cars. Some folks like motor sport, others motor racing, while those who influence the rules cant tell the difference!
The promised autosolo, once we have a venue and date details confirmed, is on. Open to all members, regardless of MG model, we hope it will prove popular enough to expand into a sreries. Mike is the organizer, so give him a call (01235 525255), for the latest. Following some 'hard persuasion', I will continue running the September Road Run for a bit longer, same format as usual, this years date being 2nd September, finishing at the lovely NT property of Charlecote Park near Stratford. Hope you can make it.
And finally before I go, can I just thank David Savidge of BMH, Neil Thomas, and Bob Welch for displaying their cars on the Register stand at Stoneleigh last February. It was a great day, with many members dropping by for a chat, thanks to all.
Thats it, don't forget, keep sending your COTY points to Mike.
