Car of the Month
Owners name: Pete Clark
Owners location: Wantage, Oxfordshire, GB
Model: GAN4 Mk3 1275cc 66 - 69
Engine size/type: 1380cc A Series
Year of manufacture: 1966
How long owned: 4 Years
History of Car and any work or modifications carried out: The car has been heavily modified by the previous owner and since then has been systematically overhauled and maintained by Pete's father Geoff, an ex Abingdon MG development department technician.
The engine is bored out to 1380cc with quite a peaky cam, making for an entertaining drive, but as the car is primarily for hill climbs and sprints, that's not a problem for lack of road driving manners! Suspension is heavily modified with a 5 link coil over back suspension and front reinforced with additional top links. As can be seen from the photos, the car runs tyres as wide as possible. Pete is making good use of the car, competing in more than 8 events a year in the MGCC Luffield championship, at places such as Gurston Down, Shelsey Walsh Prescott etc. All in all a very quick and entertaining car.
