Liberating the starter motor
January 6, 2021 at 3:18 PM
Happy New Year to all Spridgeteers and greetings from snowy North Yorkshire,
Despite keeping the battery well charged, I'd noticed cranking the engine seemed to get a little bit slower each time I started it. The usual checks that all connections were tight and a replacement earth strap did nothing to improve matters until the point where no cranking at all and a hot and burny smelling starter motor finally convince me it required changing.
In order to extract the recalcitrant item with the engine in situ, it looks like the dizzy needs to come off....unless anyone else knows a demon tweak for wiggling it out by some other route?
Any advice would be gladly accepted.
Best wishes for a much better 2021
David D
